Virang Dal is the Head of Economics at Kent College and also runs an independent YouTube channel, teaching Economics, called EconplusDal.ⓘ

Virang Dal started off as all YouTubers do, with no subscribers at all, however, because he was passionate about what he did and didn't care much for the money and fame to be gained, he continued to frequently upload videos to his channel. By doing so, he slowly began to notice that his audience and subscribers were growing, to what is over 85,000 subscribers now.

After completing the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir project, Virang Dal (who also went to this temple), gave me excellent feedback on the event website I had built. He was so impressed that he decided to award me the honor of working on his website.

Design & Development

The intention of building this website was to serve Virang Dal's YouTube audience with a platform from where they could access information and content such as revision packs and seminars, that they would usually have to send an email for.

Virang approached me with a clear plan which he had implemented. He provided me with clear instructions, text, images and wire-frame diagrams of how he wanted each page designed. This made the process of developing this website much easier for me as it allowed me to focus solely on development.

Some special features I used were responsive image mapping for the header image, so when users click on the 'EconplusDal' logo or the signature at the bottom right of the image, it would take them back to the homepage. Another bespoke feature I thought of implementing to improve loading times was on the videos page, with a custom YouTube iFrame that doesn't load the playlists until the user clicks on them.
